International Presentation Lay Movement for Mission (IPLMM)
The International Presentation Lay Movement for Mission is a worldwide evolving network of lay women and men who are committed, as Nano was, to ‘act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God’ (Micah 6:8).
This Lay Movement shares a similar spirituality and charism, vision and mission with the Presentation Sisters Congregation (Union) founded by Nano Nagle Its spirituality is rooted in a Spirituality of Being Communion, a spirituality that seeks God in the interconnectedness of all creation that promotes active love for self, God, others and all of nature. Its charism is expressed by finding creative ways to further its mission of doing justice in the way of Jesus, of working towards peace on earth and of upholding the integrity of creation. Where possible this is done in collaboration with Presentation Sisters and other persons or groups with whom they find a resonance in terms of vision and values.
The International Presentation Lay Movement for Mission is made up of two distinct but related movements – the Associates Movement and the Friends of Nano Movement (View The Friends of Nano guidelines book). Each movement in turn comprises of groups of men and/or women who seek to enrich their lives by meeting several times a year and connecting with Presentation Sisters and their mission where possible.
Lay people who feel called to becoming an Associate of the Presentation Sisters or a Friend of Nano become part of a much larger network across the world. Generally, the members of the Associate Movement (or Associates, as they are known) meet on a regular basis throughout the year, have a period of induction before making a commitment (usually for a year and renewable) to live their lives in the spirit of Nano Nagle and in support of the mission of the Presentations Sisters. While members of the Friends of Nano meet a few times a year and do not usually make a formal commitment but have caught the spark of the Divine reflected in the charism of Nano and desire to make it their own in their lives for their personal enrichment as well as for the good of others and planet Earth.
