North East Province

In the early 2000s the Presentation Sisters in Ireland invited others to join with them in forming an Educational Trust to carry the ownership of the voluntary secondary schools into the future. The trust, CEIST (Catholic Education and Irish Schools Trust) came into being at the end of May 2007. Irish secondary schools founded in the Presentation tradition are now vested within the CEIST trust.

Other Educational Projects and Ministries in Ireland

Global Education Experience (GEE)

Presentation sisters from across Ireland are involved in the ongoing GEE Project which was developed jointly by the Irish Provinces of the Presentation Sisters in collaboration with Presentation sisters in mission provinces. It offers teachers and senior students from secondary schools in Ireland and opportunity to experience life in a country the the two-thirds world accompanied by Presentation Sisters and their co-workers.

GEE promotes the broad education vision of Nano Nagle in a world where the gap between rich and poor, north and south grows ever wider and more complex. It also responds to the desire expressed by Principals of Presentation second level schools for programmes which develop and awareness of social justice issues among their students.

iScoil is an online educational initiative that was set up by the Presentation sisters in 2006 when it was identified that an alternative path to education was required for young people who were falling outside the mainstream method. Today early school leavers aged between 13 & 16 are referred to iScoil and accepted students work online on a personalised education plan and with mentors to achieve recognised certification. (

Voluntary Involvement in Education

Many Presentation Sisters who have retired from teaching or other roles continue to be involved in education ministry on a voluntary basis in various ways such as chaplaincy, faith formation through sacrament preparation, homework support and educational support for pupils and their families. Sisters also sit on educational boards within the Trusts involved with Presentation and former Presentation schools.
